The theme of the 2019 US Open made famous by Billie Jean King was "Pressure is a Privilege". What does that mean to you? Do you consider the pressure you experience when playing your sport to be a privilege or is it more a like a burden? First, I believe it is important to understand that feeling some type of pressure is normal. The pressure is there because the outcome is important to you. You want to win, you want to be successful. But i think it is important to step back and say to yourself "Wow I am really blessed to even have this opportunity to compete". The pressure you experience is a privilege because you have worked for it. You are competing where you are at for a reason. It wasn't luck..it was hard work and dedication that has got you there.
So next time you feel that the pressure is on, step back and be thankful where you are at. The pressure you are feeling is a privilege, so treat it like that.

Do not afraid to admit it! Consider our training. We will teach you various strategies to help manage your mindset and help you be more positive and confident in your own performance!! When you are competing at sports no one likes to admit they are nervous. But being nervous doesn't mean you are weak or something to be ashamed of. Being nervous is normal! You are competing to achieve something worthwhile, you have some nerves! The key is interpreting and managing those nerves to your advantage! Just trying to eliminate nerves completely is not a good plan.
Should be the mindset of every athlete! You have to think that yes I can do it! Don't underestimate or sell yourself short. You can it!
Don't let your athletic preparation become stagnant. Keep learning, working hard, stepping out of your comfort zone, and trying to get better! And always seek out feedback.
In sports, what separates the best from the rest? One's ability to manage emotions and keep your composure when the pressure is on, really is the difference. The most successful perform their best under pressure. Instead of dreading pressure, they love every second of it. This is why your mindset is HUGE in sports. With a confident and strong mindset, you less likely to "choke" under pressure and instead perform at your best. Developing a strong mindset might be the missing piece you need to reach your potential!
Too many times I hear athletes getting too preoccupied worrying about the other competitors. You have to focus on you, worrying about the other competitors just causes you stress, which will impair your performance. You also can't control how the other competitors act, play, or perform. You really have to focus on being the best you can be. Focus on you and performing to the best of your ability. Don't worry about anyone else.
Think back to your best performance. What were some of the little moments that helped you get there? Sometimes it takes much persistence, hard work, and not giving up to get to that big moment. So, be proud of those little moments. At your next competition, remember the little moments that got you there.“Doing the best at this moment puts you in the best place for the next moment”― Oprah Winfrey1/22/2019 I love this quote. It can be applied to any sport. I think the goal of any competitor is become consistently good, where you just keep getting better and better! This quote also highlights that you should not forget what got you to that moment. Remember all the preparation and hardwork that you put in to get to that moment.Have you ever experienced that situation when you accomplished something and someone comments and says "you are so lucky". But in your mind, you know that it wasn't luck, instead it was hard work, dedication, and commitment that got you there. Being a successful athlete is more about just being lucky. It is a result of hard work and commitment. Sure, you may have had some things go your way, be in the right moment at the right time, but ultimately your accomplishments should be seen as a result of your performance, not luck.
